Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) Q & A

Anti-Aging Institute

What are PRP injections?

Platelet-rich plasma, commonly referred to as PRP, has been used to speed the healing of injuries in athletes for years. Orthopedists use the injections to treat a variety of conditions, including tennis and golf elbow, arthritis in the knee and shoulders, and plantar fasciitis. More recently, it’s proven just as remarkable in reducing wrinkles, regenerating skin, and reversing hair loss.

PRP treatment requires drawing a small amount of your blood, then processing it into a concentrated formulation. This contains three to five times more platelets than normal blood, plus more growth factors and active proteins. Next, this super-healing substance is injected directly into your wrinkles or other facial flaws. The PRP stimulates the production of new collagen, leading to diminished wrinkles, the replenishment of lost facial volume, and an overall healthier glow to your skin.

What skin flaws can PRP improve?

PRP can treat a wide range of skin flaws, including:

  • Wrinkles
  • Aged and sun-damaged skin
  • Crow’s feet
  • Fine lines
  • Smile lines
  • Under eye hollows
  • Skin texture and tone
  • Deep depressions around the nose and mouth
  • Volume loss in the cheeks
  • Sagging around the jawline
  • Dehydrated skin

Can PRP be used in conjunction with other cosmetic treatments?

Absolutely. At Anti-Aging Institute, Dr. Bacha and his team often combine PRP injections with other popular non-surgical treatments for amazing results. PRP is used in conjunction with injectables like:

  • Botox®
  • Dysport®
  • Sculptra® Aesthetic
  • Juvéderm®
  • Priapus Shot®

The overall results are so impressive, that combining PRP injections with other cosmetic procedures are often referred to as the “vampire facelift”.

Are PRP treatments safe?

Yes, they are extremely safe. It’s safer than the cortisone injections orthopedists administer for joint pain. In fact, getting PRP injections is safer than many other cosmetic procedures, especially surgery. That’s because PRP uses your own blood, so there’s no risk of rejection or an allergic reaction. It’s also a fairly quick office procedure which does not entail downtime or anesthesia and is far less expensive and painful than surgery.

*Individual results may vary.

The Priapus Shot® (The P-Shot)

The P-Shot is a procedure designed to deliver lasting improvements in sexual performance for men. Similar to PRP, this is a very safe procedure, and begins with drawing a tiny amount of your own blood. Then, using a specialized centrifuge, the cells are separated. PRP is the basis of the P-Shot penis enlargement injection.
