Fight Hair Loss With PRP

It may sound like science fiction. But yes, we at the Anti-Aging Institute can help you in your fight against hair loss using your own blood.

Male- and female-pattern baldness affects nearly 80 million men and women in the United States. Balding and thinning hair can be devastating to your self-esteem and self-image, especially for women. However, you have options, including a revolutionary and natural solution that gives you a fuller head of hair using platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, which we create from your own blood.

About hair loss

It’s in your shower, your hair brush, and you could probably find several strays lying on your floor. It’s normal to lose up to 100 hairs every day. A normal hair follicle has a growing phase of two to three years. After the growing phase, your hair follicle goes into a type of hibernation for three to four months and at the end releases the hair, causing it to fall out, and a new growth cycle begins. Because your hair is in a constant state of growth, you don’t see any change in the quality or thickness of your hair.

However, if there’s a disruption in the growth cycle or the hair follicles get damaged, you may begin to see a change in the quantity and quality of your hair.

There are a number of potential causes for balding and thinning hair, including:

Genetics is the most common cause, and if hair loss runs in your family, the chances of you developing thinning or balding hair increase exponentially. Your genetics may also determine the type of hair loss, thinning or balding, the amount of hair you lose, and the age you start to lose it.

What is PRP

PRP a revolutionary treatment that takes your own blood and supersizes it with extra healing power. Platelets are a type of cell best known for blood clotting. But these cells are also rich in proteins and growth factors that promote healing and the production of new cells.

To create PRP, we take a small amount of blood from your arm and place it in a centrifuge to separate out the platelets.

PRP was first used by orthopedists to improve the rate of healing in damaged joints after injury or surgery. Soon after, it was discovered that PRP also had powers to rejuvenate skin and promote hair growth.

PRP treatment for hair loss

Although a fairly new treatment, research indicates PRP for hair loss is effective and safe, making hair thicker and stronger. It works by increasing the growing phase of your hair cycle.

At the Anti-Aging Institute, we may be able to start PRP treatment for hair loss at your initial consultation. To improve growth, we inject the specially made PRP using a small syringe in the areas of your scalp where you’re experiencing hair loss, and we continue to treat your scalp every six weeks for six months. At the end of the six months, we re-evaluate your scalp and, if necessary, continue treatment.

While PRP is an effective treatment for hair loss, it may not be right for everyone. We recommend treatment during the very early stages of your balding or thinning so we can stimulate the hair follicles early.
